Does the coursepack contain third party materials that you did not personally create?

Affix an MUSC copyright notice to the material and distribute to the class.

Do you have permission from each owner of the third party materials?

Complete the Permissions Documentation Form for each item and properly attribute the third party work included in the coursepack

For the third party items with no permission does your use comply with the standards for Fair Use?

Fair Use Factors:

• What is the purpose of the use?
• What is the nature of the work?
• How much of the work is being used?
• What is the affect of the use on the market/value of the third party work?

Note: repeat use for more than one semester is disfavored.

Complete the Fair Use Documentation Form Long or Fair Use Documentation Form Short and properly attribute the third party work included on the coursepack.

Remove the item from your coursepack and refer the students to an electronic link for the item via e-journals or place a copy on reserve in the library.
